Our
first dive, and a warm up for most of us. Lots of fish on this site,
because it is just offshore of the no-go reserve. Big Grouper, lots of
Barracuda, and a few Anberjacks in the blue.

27th May : Secca della Columbara -
the wreck of the 'Ita'
Ustica's
first wreck. A small freighter carrying marble blocks, which went down in
2005. Stern quite intact, but nothing much remains of the fittings in the
wheelhour. Looks a little like the Giannis-D in the Red Sea, but a bit
smaller. Some spectacular yellow anemone covered pinnacles a little further
round the reef.

Nudibranches
starting to appear. Small specimens of Cratena peregrina and Flabbellina
afinis found. Played with an Octopus in the shallows at the end of the
dive.

the outer ferry pier, Ustica Town harbour.
One of
the great pier dives this. Imagine Swange Pier on a scale about 10 times
bigger. Pier legs go down to 15m, and covered in Falbellina. Found another
Octopus, and beyonf the Pier is a grotto, and slope covered in Roman
pottery.

Great
night dive! Torpedo electric ray, Large Marionella blainvilli nudibranch,
couple of big Dorids (10-15cm), a pygmy cuttlefish, and lots of shrimp.
